Have you seen the teasing on Instagram? It makes me think of a small device (like my beloved Mini?), with front light and colour.

The video has a quick flash to a different color Kobo of the same size. I managed to pause the video to be able get to a grab.

yeah, i saw that too. pretty interesting. color screen, case comes in either white or black, tiny size… by my rough guess, after having measured some objects visible in the video clip, the device looks to be about 104x144mm in total size. not quite Palma small (please, Kobo, please give me a device running your software in this size!) but pretty nice and small.

edit: my guess (again, just a guess) seems it would make this new one way too close in size to the extant Clara Colour to be a brand-new device.

…is 100% identical to the image currently used for the Clara Colour info page on Kobo’s site:


so, sadly, this might actually turn out to just be a minor refresh and the introduction of a white sku, as was speculated in the thread about the “Spa” FCC filing.

I've noticed it too. At first, I was watching without the sound (because kids) but the little sound grabbed my attention. It's so like the Mini!
The Kobo Mini has been m'y favorite one, and I've owned three other Kobo models and one from Sony. The only thing missing for me was the front light. That's why I bought a Clara BW the very day I unfortunately broke my Glo HD,. Orwas it Aura HD?
Now, regarding the coulour screen I'm not quite sold yet. Some people around me don't like the greyer screen and the fact that they have to use the light more.

Anyway, I really appreciate the way that teaser is made. And it could be my dream ereader.

The image is very glowy. If it is Kaleido 3 then it's very dark for mono text without the front light, OTOH, if it's a 600 dpi screen under the coloured dots, then there are no artefacts at 300 dpi.

My PRS-350 5″ reader is fine with no front light.

Unless the person's hands are huge, it does not look like a 6" screen.
