Any rumors on new Kobos?

I'm hoping we get an b&w equivalent to the Libra Color with an Carta 1300 screen. My wife has specifically told me she DOES NOT want a color ereader, and I was hoping to get her a b&w device in the Libra form factor.

Also would love an Elipsa 3E with a Carta 1300 panel also, since the Scribe has been a disappointment.

The Libra Colour already has a Carta 1300 screen.

What your wife wants is what a lot of us want. We want a Kobo Libra BW with improved battery and better processor.

We only know of a white clara colour upcoming release but as far as I know it hasn't been officially announced.

I have also been waiting for a libra BW release. Out of desperation I gave libra colour a fair shot and ended up returning it. So I gave up and bought a second hand, barely used, libra 2. It's recent enough, having only been discontinued for a year. I'm very satisfied with mine. It does have carta 1200 screen but it's a great device so if you can get a hold of one of these, I'd highly recommend. Also, Boox is currently selling a BW device with a similar form factor if that might interest your wife.

There are new versions of the Clara Colour and Clara BW coming out but those are not new devices, the internals may change but the form factor and screen will be the same.

Count me in on a new Elipsa with an even better screen. I'm OK with the current screen but a 300DPI one would be nice.

I though the Libra Color used a Kaleido screen, and not a Carta screen?

The 300 PPI screen on the Kindle Scribe is nice. But it's PDF support is VERY lacking. I'd love to just try a current Elipsa out and see how it does with PDFs.

Kaleido is just an RGB filter applied on top of the screen. The actual screen is Carta 1300, but because it's covered in RGB dots, it looks darker and fuzzier than if the RGB filter were not present.
