Has kobo UK been hacked?
A few hours ago I received a "Kobo" email to my UK account, which advises I 'view in browser'. (Photo below for reference) There is no other information provided whether 'show images' is on or not.
I am not inclined to click the link at all. Who else with a UK Kobo account got the email I might add that haveibeenpwned.com does not currently show that email account has been compromised. A google search along the lines of has Kobo been hacked doesn’t identify it has been, as of time of posting. Yes, I wondered if it was phishing as well.
Although I can't discount that kobo UK may be caught up in the new age verification laws, because I'm guessing they sell R rated types of books. I've never bought any books that might be considered R rated in the sex sense, maybe some history books fit into categories of protected or something. |

For a company that deals in communication it really is a poor email, if it's for real. We shouldn't have to be second guessing what kobo wants to communicate. And kobo ought to know better than to refer a communication off to another site in order to deliver a message.

I added that URL just to see if I could get any reports from any others who might want to open it.
As for the usefulness of Kobo's emails? That is up to the end user. As to the empty email sent to various users around the world? As near as I can tell from the 3 samples I've been sent, they are valid emails but with empty content suggesting an internal error at Kobo. If you open the URL for the email, it shows an empty page. Displaying the page source, shows nothing has been received. As for the quote below: Quote:
