Question Unresponsive display. Any troubleshooting or repair options?

A few weeks ago my PW5 developed a problem where the display would stop refreshing or get caught in the middle of a refresh. It was sporadic but started happening more frequently, and now it's just completely stuck. I've opened the Kindle and disconnected the battery to accomplish a full reset, and I've reseated all the surface mount connectors multiple times, to no avail. The software seems to be working just fine. If I power it up and wait long enough, I can connect it to a computer, but the display just won't refresh at all now.

The PCB seems to be attached to the display with adhesive, including some adhesive holding down one of the ribbon cables. Is it safe to use a solvent to remove those? Can they be pried up without solvent without damaging anything? Is there anything I can do to revive the display, or do I need to find a donor Kindle with a good display but bad (or blacklisted) PCB and swap the parts from one to the other?

Was it under warranty? If it was I would have contacted Amazon.
