Seeking a workaround for customizing default columns
I've encountered limitations with customizing default columns, which has made managing my library more challenging. For instance, I wanted to modify the rating column to display half stars, but since the default column cannot be edited, I had to hide it and create a new column called "ratings." This workaround is manageable for manually updated columns, but it becomes cumbersome for columns that are automatically populated during book imports. I would like to change the format of date columns and add descriptions, but the current limitations prevent this.
I could probably create a chain action to populate a custom column with the values of the default column, but that seems like too much work for something that seems quite basic. I'm looking for a more efficient solution or workaround for this issue. |

Create a column built from other columns. Although note that if you dnt use builtin columns metadata updating in book files will not work.
