Troubleshooting Kindle Paperwhite skipping the first page of each chapter

I've got a really annoying issue with my device, and I'm kind of at the end of my wits.
This started about 2 weeks ago.
I'm reading a book, downloaded directly from Amazon over wifi.
I reach the end of a chapter, and when I tap to go to the next page, it skips the first page of the next chapter, and goes straight to the 2nd.
If I tap to go back, it skips the first page again.
If I leave the book and re-enter it, the problem is solved for that chapter, but will happen again on the next.

Restarting the device didn't help.

I'm using Kindle Paperwhite 10th gen.
Firmware version is 5.18.1, and it tells me that's the most recent.

All books, or just one in particular?

Definitely more than one book, but not all.

As far as I can tell, books that have been released 2-3 weeks or less ago have the issue, and older books don't.

There is an update to your Kindle, to 5.18.2. You could manually update and see if that fixes it.
