Puzzling conflict in "Edit metadata" fields

Hello, all.

Today, after importing a new book into my library, I opened the "Edit metadata" window to add a few tags, and noticed an odd data conflict.

The red frame around the "Author sort" pane suggests that this field is at odds with the "Author(s)" field. (Screenshot attached below.)

In both fields, the spelling of the author's name is identical, and in the "sort" field, I have always listed the author's last name first, followed by a comma.

Any thoughts as to why the names in the two fields aren't syncing? Any ideas as to how I might fix this?

Thanks much.

It means that the "author sort" in the edit metadata dialog doesn't agree with the library-wide "author sort" defined for that author, visible in the "Manage authors" dialog.

Appreciate the rescue. All better!

Thanks for pointing me to "Manage authors" — a feature I wasn't even aware of till today.

Cheers to you!
