My Kindle DX is not recognized by computers and does not access the Wi-Fi network

I have a Kindle DX B009, software 2.5.8 (555370010).
It has always worked perfectly.
The battery is ok, charging normally.
However, currently, I cannot access its memory via USB cable, as it is not recognized by PCs. In other words, it appears as a Kindle drive in the file explorer.
I have tested it on several computers and with different cables, without success.
It cannot access the Wi-Fi network anymore.
These two conditions have prevented its use, as I cannot load new books/documents, nor delete old ones.
Could someone help me understand what may have happened and the possible solutions?

No DX version ever had WiFi. They had cell/mobile. Some only USA CDMA and others European GSM 2G and 3G.

I have the B009 also, which is a DXG and tThe EDGE variant of 2G GSM still works here in Ireland, but that can only accept ebooks sent from your Amazon Account. I have that same last firmware.


Perhaps the USB port is damaged? It should automatically put up a screen about connecting. If not, try more cables and even a USB hub.

Have you changed your PC or upgraded / changed the OS? Sounds like you use Windows. Is it in Device Manager as "unknown"?

Mine is still connecting to Calibre on Linux Mint.

However, I've had many ereaders and I found the DXG the worst to read on.

Sometimes the best solution is to get something else. I like repairing, but sometimes it's not possible, or not worth it.
