Boox Leaf 5 - Need help installing Google Play

I have just received the latest Boox Leaf5 (chinese version). I quite like it: solid build, physical button is bigger and raised than the previous leaf3/page, leather grip on the back
- I own a lot of chinese Boox devices: leaf 3 (page), poke 6 (go6) etc and have no problem installing GG play with them. They have built in gg services and i just install Google Play apk and they work smoothly.
- However, i cant install google play store on Leaf5 despite the fact that it has built in Google play services. It keeps says: Google Play keeps stopping
Other apps that require Google services (like Play book or Gmail, Drive) work no problem. Just Google Play keeps crashing I have tried the latest GG play apk (version 45), ver 38 39 32 and nothing works.
Anyone can help me? Thanks a lot in advanced
P/s: Leaf 5 has Snapdragon 750G and runs on Android 13. The version of GG services is: 23.37.17.

Maybe it's crashing on lack of permissions. Did you check that?

A logcat would tell you more but there's a lot of chaff.

Yeah i already gone to App management -> Google Play store -> Permissions and given it all available permission. I will try the adb logcat and report back asap. Thank you

And while you're at it, we don't have the libota_jni.so for the Leaf5 either.

Hi, I try adb logcat after GG play crashed. Here is a log, could you have a look?

Your problem is here:

java.lang.SecurityException: You either need MANAGE_USERS or CREATE_USERS permission to: query users

I don't know how Google Play is working on your other devices.
Normally the Google Play apk has to be system signed.

I don't know of a solution short of the "nuclear option" of re-signing your entire system with your own signature.

Please unzip AndroidManifest.xml from the apk, then zip it by itself and post it.

I don't know. I don't even use WiFi.

If you want you could convert it Chinese -> International.
But I'm losing track of which device is what.

Here is the AndroidManifest.xml from the GG apk file I use. It works normally on other devices of mine like Poke 6, Leaf 3。
The problem is that I tried install multiple version of GG play and they all not working. Is there any possibility that Leaf 5 system somehow blocks installing GGplay apk？

No, it's a Chinese devices so only CN servers. You can convert it to global firmware but at the moment there isnt a global version of Leaf5 released

I'm quite a noob about this. So this means that the Google play apk asks for permission to manage users but Leaf5 refuses? So anyway to make this work?
I can also pull a logcat from poke6 running the same gg play apk without problem, if that helps?

Maybe Poke6 has a PlayStore built for it.
Maybe the permissions in framework-res.apk are different.
I haven't looked how Onyx has signed its apps.
