Exclamation Some extensions not working on KT5

Finished modding my gf's KT5 yesterday night. She asked me to install minesweeper and sudoku on her kindle after playing those games on my PW3 for a while, so I followed the same steps but it does not work. Are there any new builds or new implementations of those games?
firmware 5.17.1

There are no new builds that i know of.
Consider downgrading to 5.14 or lower to use those extensions

After firmware 5.16.3, Kindles started using hard-float architecture (on-chip floating-point processor), while the earlier versions used soft-float architecture.

While the underlying system appears mostly the same, many internal software changes have made many programs, including jailbreaking tools and extensions, unusable in modern firmware versions.

Unless explicitly stated, most, if not all, extensions are not compatible.

You may considering to downgrading to 5.16.3 or older.

How would this process work? If I understand correctly, I would be going from hard float to soft float firmware. Would the jailbreak still work or do I need to wipe out the kindle and begin again?

Which games are you using? Mesquito apps should work indifferently of system architecture (as they are web apps).

Otherwise you can use the games from the Kindle Puzzle collection (here) or Gargoyle (here)

I was trying to get gtkmines ([https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=15]) and sudoku ([https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?t=188997]) but couldn't get any to work. Will check on your suggestions later, thanks

cannot get pbchess to run

I am trying to get pbchess to work (see https://pbchess.vlasovsoft.net/en/index.html ). This was one of my favorites back a couple years ago. Does the author simply need to recompile the code (maybe with some different compiler flags), or are more substantial source code changes required?

Thanks for the insights.

The most likely reason is that your Kindle is running a firmware version of 5.16.3+ and you need packages that have been compiled for armhf/kindlehf (hardware floating point) and the older packages were compiled for software floating point.

I am currently running (and enjoying!) Gargoyle which was recently posted into this forum. If I downgrade to firmware 5.16.2, then we think pbchess will work.... but do you think that means Gargoyle will stop working? Sniff.

I guess I can try and convince the author of pbchess to compile for armhf/kindlehf...

Thanks
Todd

There's a Gargoyle version for older firmware, so that shouldn't be a problem.

That could be great if pbchess was rebuilt for armhf architecture. Normally it only needs to be rebuilt with an adapted toolchain, no other modifications needed. Unfortunately it isn't open source, so the community can't help.

I was gonna ask about what date timeframe things changed but I guess I'll just look it up. Newcomers to this community like myself and anyone else new to jailbreaking their devices might still be confused on what extensions will actually be compatible. The numbers of the firmware only explain so much without more context..
