Trouble with quickview and custom columns
Hi,
I'm having some trouble with quickview and custom columns. When I double click on a column in the quickview table it should change the item in the left panel. This is working fine for the built in columns like author and series. However when I double click on a custom column within the quickview it says "The column you double-clicked '#columnname', is not shown in the library view. The book/column cannot be selected by Quickview." The custom column is visible in the main library view. I can click on the custom column in the library view and select it for quickview fine, just not within the quickview table itself. This used to work, but I haven't used calibre in a while. I've updated windows and calibre in between and I'm wondering if something got corrupted somehow? |

Double clicking an item in the quickview list causes that book to be selected in the book list, this will change the items in the left panel of quickview as side effect if the new book has a different set of items. This is working fine for me regardless of type of cloumn double clicked.
See https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/gui.html#quickview |

I have the "Double click changes examined column" option selected.
In the quickview window if I double click on the author or series column for example - the book in the row I selected is selected in the book list, but the examined column also changes to the series of that book. But if I double click on a double click on custom column I just get the error - the book is not selected in the book list and the examined column is not changed either. I uploaded a screenshot as well. The custom column is named "#universe". When I select it in the top book list view the quickview shows all books with that universe, but if I double click it in the quickview window I get the error. |

You have ticked: apply Virtual Libraries
That value may not be IN the current VL |

A bug has existed for almost forever where quickview incorrectly determined which columns are visible in the libary view. I submitted a fix, which should be in the next release.
EDIT: The fix is now in calibre source. Last edited by chaley; 04-01-2025 at 02:19 PM. |

oh thank you so much!
i could have sworn this was working in the past, but it's probably been over a year since I used this last. I assumed I had messed something up in the upgrade. |
