Kobo Stylus 2 idiocracies

After purchasing my Kobo Color I also bought the Kobo Stylus 2 in order to have a complete set. However I did not used it much since as I discovered that it very quickly went out of steam (=empty battery). Full/empty in 2-3 days. I could charge it within a reasonable time span but never had the idea that it was really charged as the light went so quickly to white and stayed white. Studying the manual told me that the white light indicated 2 things:
  • device is charged, and
  • device is (still) connected to charger
The short usage time did not feel right, so I recently gave it a second chance. Browsing the internet I discovered that there were 2 charge times mentioned:
  • Kobo mentions a max charge time of 1 hour
  • Amazon mentions a max charge time of 3 hours
I decided to charge my totally dead KS2 for at least 3 hours and see what that did. So after about 20 minutes the charge light turned white, but I kept it connected until up to 3 hours in total. Thereafter I tried the stylus for about a week and it still works. Did I do the magic trick? I hope so. Anybody with the same experiences?

Oh, and I found another usefulness with the KS2:
I have books with references (indicated with some raised number and an hyperlink towards a footnote). I never got that reliably working with my fingers on a Kobo ereader: it either did not register or I was not able to jump back.
By change I discovered that using the eraser part of the KS2 works perfectly to jump to and fro of the footnotes. So at the moment I'm reasonable happy with the KS2.
Perhaps there are more "hidden" KS2 features? Let me know

The stylus does have a charge indicator on the reader. If you are outside a book, tap the stylus somewhere (e.g. the very top of the screen) and then check the battery icon. You'll then see a rough status indication (e.g. fine, low).
