Error Message with Import Export All Calibre Data
For the last year, I have successfully transferred caliber from one of my computers to another using the export function, and then imported the same data using the import function.
I've done this FLAWLESSLY AT LEAST 70 TIMES over the last year.. Windows 10, latest version. Caliber latest version 8 as indicated below. For the 1st time, I've attempted this after installing version 8 – NOT saying this is the problem – and I repeatedly get the following errors. (please see below under the Asterix) It does appear as though the library has in fact been imported. I am able to open and read any random book in the library. Caliber companion on my android (phone and tablets) hook up flawlessly (via Wi-Fi) with the new library. And I am able to transfer books to my android device using caliber companion. HOWEVER… the indicated size of the original library is larger than the newly created library on the 2nd computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! My email address is incoming@pobox.com. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and replying if you choose to do so. You have a file permission issue with the file mentioned in that error message, see https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...n-denied-error

Thank you so much for replying!
As far as I can tell all of the directories in question have everyone = read write and execute permissions. And these permissions are completely unchanged for the last year and a half. These permissions also apply to all of the files within each of the respective directories. Can you suggest HOW I go about finding out what is causing the permission error? If you could spell out step-by-step exactly what I need to do, I will report my findings back to you in case anyone else has a similar problem. Thanks again for your help! James Gluckin |

1st, thank you very, very much for the reply! I did not know about directly copying the Calibre folder itself.
Going to give that a try within the next few days, and will post my results here. Once again, thank you so very much! James Gluckin |

I have been racking my brains and unable to find what is causing the permission errors between the 2 computers. So I have a question. If the Calibre library is ACCURATELY and EXACTLY COPIED from Computer A to computer B, and if I copy the configuration folder EXACTLY from computer A to computer B, will I have COMPLETELY copied EVERYTHING pertaining to Calibre? Note that the directory structure is IDENTICAL between the 2 computers. The library has the same drive path. The configuration folder has the same default drive path with the exception that the username would of course be different. (For example users\Puget on one computer would be users\Ageis, since the 2 computers have different usernames.) Thank you once again for helping me with this problem! James Gluckin |

Try deleting that "icons-any.rcc" file, it's a Qt resource file override for a 'theme' you installed - i.e. it's purely decorative.

You absolutely nailed it 1000%!
The file that was giving complications in the error message was: 'C:\\Users\\Puget-1\\AppData\\Roaming\\calibre\\icons-any.rcc' And you were 1000% accurate when you said that it was not required. I searched, (and found) the file in the B computer. I eliminated the file. And then opened Calibre. The program ran perfectly. And as you pointed out, the only difference I noticed was the icons were artistically more conventionally vanilla. Since it work perfectly on the B computer, I went to the A computer and renamed the file, and then restarted Calibre. I rechristened the file (on the A computer) so that the program would not be able to find it or use it. :-) When I restarted the program I did the normal export all data that I have done for several years. Calibre was perfectly able to reassemble library and share all of the options of the exported program itself on the B computer. Thank you so very much for making the suggestion!
