I don't want to touch "Tags" generated by Calibre when downloading metadata, so that's the reason for my "custom_tags" metadata. Also I do have various other custom ones e.g. pages, words, edition, reading_status etc.
But when I send files to my Kobo no such custom metadata are included in .metadata.calibre file. How do I send send them via the .metadata.calibre file so that it can be analyzed and take advantage of it on our reader e.g. KOReader ? |

the metadata will be present in the actual files themselves. metadata.calibre is for calibre internal use only and you cant control what goes in it.

Yes I can use Edit book feature of Calibre and view the metadata included in content.opf of ebup/azw3.
But the (custom)metadata are written into all type of files, including pdf, zip, even DRM protected files? If yes how do I verify it? Last edited by shuvashish76; 03-21-2025 at 12:58 AM. |

metadata is written into every file format that supports it.

Reported for KOReader. Things are now bit clear to me. Hopefully we'll have some better standard way of handling metadata that can be read by third-party readers in future. Thanks for the info.
