Question Sideloaded Books to Kindle App via Calibre Dont Sync to Goodreads
Is this something that is a issue because I'm not using a kindle device and using the app on my boox go color 7 or am i doing something wrong or is it not possible to your kindle app sideloaded books to goodreads?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Goodreads sync does the book matching by checking ASIN ID values. The only ASIN values Amazon & Goodreads know about ( = have in their databases) are those assigned to books in Kindle Store. So if your "sideloaded" books are actually converted, generated by Calibre those files naturally will not use the same ASIN value as a retail Kindle Store books and Goodreads sync won't work.

Not sure about how Kindle app behaves but on Kindle eInk devices people could and used to be able to get the "Goodreads integration" to work by manually finding and adding the ASIN value into "ids" metadata field in Calibre that same book has on the Kindle Store and then using Calibre's QualityCheck plugin to "apply" it to mobi or azw3 files before finally sending the book to Kindle device via USB cable.

Would it Goodreads Sync work if the eBook was edited to add in the correct ASIN?

Would it kill you to read a comments before replying with your "useful" contributions?

I literally wrote in comment above yours that some people did just that: fake the retail book's ASIN into a converted book using QualityCheck plugin. And it worked (at least in the past) on Kindle devices.

According to one acquantance of mine, it still seems to work but at the risk of having your ebook removed by Amazon. The current trigger seems to be an extended period without connecting to Amazon, usually keeping your Kindle in airplane mode for many weeks.
