Blacklisted Plugins

What does blacklisting a plugin do? Prevent it from being installed, or something else?

Also the changes seem to be for kepub. Will I have to convert in advance? I liked KoboTouchExtended because it did it on-the-fly without keeping an extra copy.

It means all the plugins dealing with KePub will no longer be allowed.

Do you recall if there are any featured in the KoboTouchExtended driver that we'd lose if we went back to the KoboTouch driver?

I dont understand. That doesn't answer that specific quesiton.

It prevents it from functioning even if it is installed. Kovid has done this because he is building equivalent functionality into calibre.

Is it done? I mean, the plugins are blacklisted because functionality is in place? Is sure that Kobo Touch Extended have the same functionality that Kobo Touch?

Or I can stay in 7.24 till I'm sure it works First of all, I've got to check:

• If this is a feature aready built in the code, how it works. Because I don't want kepub files in my library.
• I've got to check if there is any feature at KoboTouchExtended driver that is not in the KoboTouch driver.
• If there is any feature like that, if I don't mind to lose it or I mind.

So, I think it's going to take some time.

It works exactly the same as it used to work, you should not need to change anything in your workflow other than possibly re-doing some settings. Try with tomorrow's preview. EPUBs are converted to KEPUB on the fly when sending to the device by default (can be disabled via a setting in the kobo driver).

Since the Kobo hardware is finally available in my country I got one and now I am taking over maintenance of Kobo support in core calibre, needed as davidfor who used to maintain it is no longer with us. Which means the out of the box experience of using Kobo with calibre will be improved without needing to install plugins.

All the functionality of the 5 blacklisted plugins has already been built into core calibre.

Of course there are likely to be some bugs/teething troubles but hopefully those will be rapidly sorted out.

Ok, I'll check settings in KoboTouchExtended to see if something is missing (and search which settings I've got to modify ). And thank you for taking that part of davidfor's work in calibre.

Can I mix KePub and ePub such that Reading List works perfectly to send to my Kobo on connect? If not, that really needs to be added in before the release. version. I have a column that gets a Y if the eBook is to be a KePub. The KoboTouchExtended has this as a feature and I'd really hate to lose it.
