When trying to import a new book it says there was a problem adding new files. When I click on show details, it gives this message:

Can a calibre library be on a NAS if it's done carefully and you have a drive letter to the library?

Well, I have a single NAS drive as the letter Q: in Windows. When you say doing carefully does it involve something more than that?

Lots and lots of people do have issues with both networked drives and cloud, though, as seen in this very thread. |

No. Any physically ATTACHED drive.
My main is on U: (a second partition on a really big (when it was added) drive, Magazines is on M: (A USB drive) 2 way sync (of any kind) is a disaster waiting to strike a Calibre Library. The Filesystem part MUST stay in lockstep with the DB part. |

My 'Intake' Library is on another PC on my desk.
Years ago I discovered that Calibre became unstable (non-responsive) if I tried to edit metadata from the other (main) PC. OTOH I found I could do a PULL transfer (Copy to PC) reliably. YMMV This is NOT the official policy on network attached. USE ANY contrary to policy advice AT YOUR OWN RISK. |
