De - DRM ?

I thought my library was all set up to dedrm all books or else leave them out. But tagging books this morning I found one that i can't open because of drm.

I look in my plugins and sure enough I don't see anything pertinent.

So I thought I'd ask as to the situation today. I think it changes all the time?

There was an 'apprentice alf', I think, thing wasn't there?
And i have Kindle books and as i remember that required I keep my kindle on pc at some old version.

And while I am asking I see I also seem to have amazon books with weird number/char 'names' in my library and I can't open them either.

so I've got issues with De Drm and Kindle and Amazon and would appreciate any help.

That was quick. Thank you, guys. I'll get onto it. If I remember how it went we can only dedrm on input of the books so I'm going to have to find them all, however many there are, and delete them and reimport I think? I'll find out.

Personally, I would recommend the alpha release found at https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools...lease/releases. It is a few fixes ahead of the 10.0.0.9 release.

Get the zip file, extract the dedrm zip file and install it in calibre.

Am I all confused? Kindle IS Amazon ? Amazon IS Kindle? It is, isn't it? I don't have any three things to worry about, there's only two. Those cryptic booknames Calibre that are amazon's are in fact my kindles.

Gawd.... my brain.... not worthy of the name really....

edit: just saw about the alpha release. I already installed the latest non-alpha.

I just install the alpha over it via the usual install from file.. ? or I have to do some uninstall first?

Don't bother. I found how to do it and uninstalled and installed the alpha. thanks.

Kindle is Amazon. eBooks. They also sell physicals but I dont think as Kindle.

I've had a lot of trouble getting that into my head. And working with them.

Not just the drm but accounts on kindle on pc. i have two. one in usa and one in aus. i keep wanting a book and it says we're showing what can be delivered to you and then it'll tell me i can't have but must shop at this other amazon place. then i got there and it says I can't have it... all stuff like that..

And logging in.. I never know if I'm logging in to kindle or to amazon and to the usa one or the aus one... just don't know what i'm doing.

so i got two kindle libraries and i can't join them together and i never know which one I'm downloading to and so on... typical mess I get myself into by not being careful, thorough, making notes, knowing what I"m doing.

Hopefully I'm coming to grips with the whole thing finally.
Get my stuff together. Get it in calibre. Have many backups. Tag everything. Avoid kindle in future. All these good resolutions...

Aug 2, 2023 ... v10.0.9 (RC1 for 10.1.0) Pre-release

Has anyone seen any official word of why version 10.0.9 has been a "pre-release" version since 02 August 2023 (i.e., for about 1-1/2 years)? I haven't had any trouble with the version I've been running forever, so I never updated. But, I'm constantly seeing recommendations for this pre-release version that never graduates to release status.

Making great progress here. Got the 'good' kindle and downloaded my small library. Now do I point calibre at the 'my kindle content' folder (win10) which is full of folders, one for each book, or do I have to open each folder and point calibre to the .azw in there?

You can select multiple .azw3 / .mobi / .azw whatever in your favourite file manager/explorer, right click and Add to Calibre.
