K3 Kindle 3 Wifi on 3.4.1?

There seems to be a lot of old info around and I am not sure where to start.

I like to tinder and of course I want to have a not stock Kindle 3 anymore haha. It's the B008.

Where should I start and what do you suggest I install for it? Thanks!

I'm afraid there are few of us out here with a working K3 at this point. I had one but at some point it froze up and that was the end of it.

I would suggest you start with the post at the top of the forum here:

It contains links to the latest releases of packages for your device. Each package should come with its own documentation, so hopefully that will be enough for you.

After I used the JB on mine I had installed the screensaver hack, mplayer and launchpad which gave me what I needed.

Appreciate the info. I'm pretty good at navigating this stuff I was just needing some guidance as my firmware version doesn't match anything I saw here.

I would strongly recommend updating FW to 3.4.2, then 3.4.3. This will enable network, otherwise certificates are too old.

Then do JB from NiLuJe’s Snapshots (stickied to the Kindle Dev Corner), then install MKK, then KUAL, then find koreader on github and install kindle-legacy version.

This is the best thing you can (painlessly) do to enjoy K3!

It seems when manually updating I get "the update was not successful"

This is going from 3.4.1 to 3.4.2

I am on 3.4.3 now when running Update_jailbreak_0.13.N_k3w_install.bin update it seems to fail.

1) Install JB first
2) Then install MKK (MobileRead Kindlet Kit
3) Then install hotfix
4) then install MRPI and KUAL

Each one of those is available in NiLuJe’s Snapshots thread, and they come bundles with detailed readme files.

Ohhh I am trying to install an update jailbreak not the jailbreak itself. Okay I can probably work this out. Thank you!
