Linux Editor Font
I'm switching over from Windows to Linux, and I was able to transfer everything across.
Opening the Calibre ebook editor originally had Consolas as the editor font family, which is not available. So I cleared it, and now it's using a monospace font, but it's relatively large. I wanted to change it, but opening the "Editor font family" preference shows "Choose a font family from the list below" and the list is empty except for the text "None". I'm not sure if this is because it's not using the system Qt, or if this feature is just not available in Linux? I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing when I try to choose a font family. |

Hi,
I Use Linux Mint and that box is populated with all the fonts on the system as well as some I have never seen before or used. You have not used something like font manager and disabled a whole lot of fonts? Otherwise do not know ![]() Cheers |

No it is available on Linux as well, if the list is blank it will be because of some issue between Qt and fontconfig on your system.

Do you have any possible advice of how I could debug this? Thanks for the speedy reply: I didn't expect a same day response. |

Start by making sure you are using the official calibre binaries not your distro calibre package.

I can confirm that it works right when using the official binaries, rather than the extra package from Arch. Not sure why the Arch one doesn't work properly: as far as I know, it's supposed to build the app.
Unfortunately, another difference between the two is that the Arch package means that my global menu bar shows the Calibre menus. Whereas the official one doesn't have those working. Thanks for your support. |

An update: I got it working with the Arch package as well, together with global menu. It turned out I was missing an optional dependency: python-fonttools. With that installed, it works nicely. I'd prefer to have it done through pacman, rather than needing to manage an app separately. Thank you for all your help above.
