Convert EPUB3 into another format

Hi all,

I hope you are well.

I have a Sony PRS-T2, and I would like to download a book from Kobo. It says, 'Download options: EPUB 3 (Adobe DRM).' However, I am aware that the Sony PRS-T2 doesn’t support this format. I also understand that software like Calibre can convert the format. What format should I convert it to? Should it be EPUB1, EPUB2, PDF? Would it work?

In most cases, the eBook you download in ePub3 will work on your Sony. NO need to do anything unless you find out there is a problem while you are reading it.

Hi,

Thanks for your message. I have read that the Sony PRS-T2 doesn’t support ePub3 since it’s an old device. However, I could be wrong. I don’t want to buy the eBook until I am sure that my Sony will be able to read it.

Sorry what do you mean with (if done right)?

Sometimes an ePub3 is using code that an ePub2 reader cannot handle. But in most cases, that's not an issue.

Most ePub3 can be read by an ePub2 reader. Some not so well as ePub3 features are used such that it won't display properly.

You will be able to read it on your T2 without any problem.

Hi, thanks again for your message. I have bought and downloaded the book. The issue is that the file is URLLink.acsm so I don´t know how I can transfer it to my Sony so I can read it. I have just copied the file in the books folder on my Sony but it doesn´t work

Also I have downloaded ADE but doesn´t recognise my Sony

The acsm files expire. So when you have set up a mechanism to get the epub, you need to go back to the website and download again.

For education you can rename the now probably expired URLLink.acsm to URLLink.txt and open it. It's a small file that tells the ADE program what to get.

If you go the ADE route (nearly impossible on Linux) you need to "register" the Sony ereader with ADE. If that fails, then only the deACSM (or maybe deDRM) plugin on Calibre will work (no support on those plugins here except where to get them) and it works on Mac, Linux and Windows for ANY ereader that takes epub.

I also have Calibre epub-epub conversion remove white-space and line-height from CSS as they mess up.

But he needs ADE in order to authorize his Sony for Adobe DRM. He does not need an ePub > ePub conversion.
