Hi, everybody!
I have an epub with many (more than 2000) náhuatl words, which obviously appear as misspelled in Spanish (the language of the book). So, my idea is to collect all those "mispelled" words in one list to add them later in a user-dictionary. Is this possible within Sigil? If not, can someone point me how to do it in bash or some other scripting language? Just to let you know, it's not an issue to publish the book as it is, with red curly underlines for these words, since the epub readers won't notice. I need the user dictionary to check they are all written correctly because the book was OCRed. Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas! |

You can use Sigil's Spellcheck Editor Tool to add words to a user dictionary/wordlist you specify.
Check out the Sigil User Guide for details. If these words are in a language recognized by a an official language code you may want to consider wrapping them in span tags with the appropriate lang attribute set. See the attached image and the Add to Dictionary button. There is a pulldown to select a wordlist to add to. I recommend creating one specific to your epub via Sigil Preferences, then selecting it with the pulldown in the Spellcheck Editor dialog instead of just the "default". Oh, thanks for responding, KevinH.
I was thinking in a bulk/massive way of doing it. There are over 2000 words, going one by one ... just to think in all the effort... (sorry to be lazy in this aspect ;D). Since the spellcheker tool has already recognized them, I was hoping to collect them in a flash. |

FWIW: the calibre Reports->Words tool can save the list of words into a CSV File (Word, Language, Times used). If the words have a distinct language tag you can easily create a list of the Nahuatl words that can be pasted into a spellcheck user dictionary.

You misunderstood. Once these words are in the Spellcheck Editor you can highlight all of them and right click and select "Add to Dictionary" in one go.
You can then go to Sigil Preferences Spellcheck Dictionaries and see and edit the wordlist list and export them to a file. So you should be able to quickly generate the list you want. |

Sorry to not send you an acknowledgement of your response. Thanks, indeed!
I use Sigil, so Calibre is out of my toolkit to make ePubs ;D But I'm sure someone else can take advantage of your hack. |
