Development request - Calibre
Developers,
Firstly, as a disabled (mature) student, thank you for developing this software. It has made my study life so much more enjoyable, especially the'read-aloud' functionality and voice selection—such a pleasure to use. However, there is one improvement that I would respectfully like to ask of the development team. Can the'read aloud' widget (control/settings) be made so it is floatable? Sadly, it does impact the visual—albeit slightly, but very frustrating when following the text. Ideally, to be able to float it down to the task bar would be awesome and the perfect touch for that function to be better placed by the end-user. I hope I have posted this in the right place; apologies if I have not, as I am literally a 'new user' in your forum. Thank you for reading my request. |

If you prefer a bar at the bottom you can achieve that by pre-generating the audio using the "Add Text-to-speech narration" tool in the calibre edit book program. Then when you use read aloud for the book it will be with a small bar at the bottom rather than a floating one like for normal read aloud.

I've tested the new options available in current source and they're perfect, thanks so much Kovid.
I found that, by setting the Viewer vertical margins to 35px, the content won't get overlapped anymore in any pages: So I went on to test this on current stable version and found that a 75px top margin gives the same result while keeping the widget help text visible! |
