Got a Sony PRS-T1 with a pin code and it refuses to reset

As the title says, the E-Reader is locked with a pin code and I kept going around looking for a solution and this is the most common one:

***With the Reader powered on, on the bottom of the device, press and hold the Power button until the Device Shutdown screen appears.
In the Device Shutdown screen, press Yes .
Press the Power button again to turn the Reader on.
While the screen displays opening book..... , simultaneously press and hold down the Page Turn (Next) and Back buttons.

Allow the Home screen to fully load (Loading... should no longer flash in the top left corner of your screen) and then

do the following button sequence while still holding down the Page Turn (Next) and Back buttons:
Release - Press - Release the Back button only and then Release the Page Turn (Next) button.
In the Would you like to execute Factory Initialize screen, press Yes .***

Except when I try to do that the loading icon only appears after I take my fingers off Next and Back button.

I've never set a pin code (or had a Sony with a pin code) so I can't test the solution, but it's worth looking into.

I saw it before and tried but didn't work whatsoever and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong because when I create "rVPzp8O1j0m01oOq.crsZVu8crtmXGrc2" the ".crsZVu8crtmXGrc2" turns into a format, I tried creating multiple files in the SD card, from the one I mentioned before and "rVPzp8O1j0m01oOq.crsZVu8crtmXGrc2.txt" and "rVPzp8O1j0m01oOq.crsZVu8crtmXGrc2.bin"
None of them worked and whenever I try the button combination the E-reader just goes to sleep mode.

That must be a Windows' thing. I think if you turn on "show extensions" (or however it's phrased) in your File Manager you should be able to see the text or bin extension and delete it. I think you have to have only that one empty file on the SD card with the above name (without an extension).

That said, I don't know for sure if this works, as I've never had a reason to use it. I'll see if I can make you an empty file (created in Linux) with that name so you can download it and copy it to the SD Card.

Sorry I can't be much more help in this. Hope this works.

If you're on Windows, make sure you've enabled "Show file extensions" in your File Explorer settings. That way, you can confirm the file is named exactly rVPzp8O1j0m01oOq.crsZVu8crtmXGrc2 without any extra extensions.
