Taranis pre-release

Time has come to release a new version of Taranis, the weather application for PocketBook devices since there's some new features almost ready:

• Support for dark mode
• Sunrise and sunset lines in hourly forecast view
• New dialog with daily conditions details (UV index, moon phase, etc.)

Since support for dark mode implies an update of the SDK, I think it would be safer to test the pre-release on various device running whatever firmware (I own a single PB device running 6.8.x firmware). One can download the pre-release from https://github.com/orontee/taranis/r...ag/v1.10.0-rc0. Feedback welcome!

Also there's still some translations to do, see https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/taranis/taranis/ No developer skills required!

Thanks for the app.
Works on my Vivlio Light HD Color (6.8.3870).
Dark mode works well, but I haven't seen the moon phases or the new dialog box.
The weather alerts from Météo France are in English, but I guess that's the OpenWhether data source.
The off screen logo option doesn't work for me.
For a future version, some colored pictograms would be welcome...

The moon phase is in the daily forecast details dialog: Just press the row for a day in the daily forecast screen. See attachment. Feel free to report a bug if pressing such row doesn't open the dialog.

Did you changed Taranis configuration AND changed the device settings? See documentation on shutdown logo for more details.

The file was not present on my device.
I created "system/logo/offlogo/taranis_weather_forecast.bmp" (1072*1448 white background) but it didn't work.
Anyway.


On the other hand, the app often quits when updating data via wifi.

There's a misunderstanding: You're not supposed to create any file! Just:
1. Open the parameters menu of Taranis and enable generation of shutdown logos there.
2. Launch the configuration application of the device and in the "Appearance/Logo" sub-section change the value of the poweroff logo key.

Could you start Taranis with the --verbose command line option and reproduce the crash (using PBTerm is the easiest way but there's an alternative modifying the /mnt/ext1/system/config/desktop/view.json file)? I'd appreciate a bug report with log generated by that option...

I'm a real noob, I've had a pocketbook for 2 weeks and I'm using Google Translate to write to you!
I couldn't launch PBTerm, neither v1.9 nor the 2023 fork of this forum. Sorry.

I deleted Taranis and its config file.
I reinstalled with the pbi file.
Now Taranis seems to work with its own icon, but I'll forget the logo off option for now...
