Amazon releases MTP USB File Manager for macOS
From my brief testing it appears:
Doesn't crash randomly like Android File Transfer. Is still intel compiled. Actually works well, I never got OpenMTP to work. Only works for Kindle, not my Android device. It installs next to Send to Kindle which asks for login, but you don't need to log in to use the File Manager. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...EdEkbIhK07ysFu Last edited by axu2; 11-13-2024 at 01:31 PM. |

It is a little weird that it does not work with Fire/Android tablets or Kindles that use USB mass storage. It just says 'USB File Manager', nothing about MTP, and there will be folks who just use the Send To Kindle feature, have USBMS Kindles and might wonder why it doesn't work.
OpenMTP is still going to be my go-to tool; it tends to crash if viewing /system/thumbnails but otherwise works for me. (of course 'there can be only one' MTP client so you need to disconnect calibre if it is connected) libmtp provides a command line interface that is sometimes useful too. |

Thanks for heads up. It performs much better than openMTP in my machine (MacBook Air M1).
