Highlights for further consumption

hi all,

please help me with the following.

I am looking for a
stylus-based
10inch
black and white
e-ink 300ppi
device with frontlight

which allows me to highlight PDFs and ebooks and saves those highlights centrally for further consumption (eg load them into obsidian).

I am interested in highlights for excerpts, not so much annotating.

as for potential candidates, so far i got this:

- kindle scribe, however sideloading is a pain in the neck on this walled device.
- boox air 3: i don't like that it got only 227ppi in 2024.
- Kobo Elipsa 2E: if you have info on the workflow i'd be happy.
- PocketBook InkPad Eo: if you have info on the workflow i'd be happy.
- supernote A5 X2 (if its release date will be before 2026).

my favourite would be the boox for having an open android OS with a full app store, but i don't like spending that much money in 2024/25 and having a worse screen than my kindle has now.

any recommendations, thoughts?

Nxtpaper 11 is under €200. The Nxtpaper 14 is about €460. The mono eink is only better if the frontlight isn't needed.

The 10" eink are poor in comparison. The 300 dpi Kindle Scribe needs Internet to work and PDFs have to go via Amazon. No privacy. Opaque securiity, locked down.
The Elipsa and reMarkable 1&2 are also 227 ppi, less pixels than an 8" Kobo Sage.

Thanks for your reply, it does look interesting, not e-ink though.

It's got no reflection, no shine, as long battery life as many eink and as good as eink with a frontlight on. Only mono eink with frontlight off is better. You'd not believe that the Nxtpaper LCD and OLED are LCD and OLED. The eink is only really good for 6" to 8" reflowable text mono novels with frontlight off. The Nxtpaper is better for anything else.

I've had plenty of eink and LCD and can tell the difference. For years I used matt flat CRT for photo work till I was able to get a matt 4K HDR LCD comparable to paper when brightness was set properly.

I've had 3 eink models bigger than 8". An 8" eink is the largest I'd use and only for novels and small instruction book PDFs.
