Hi, my name is Jakodai, and I'm addicted to reading...

hehe, sorry I couldn't help myself...

I'm new to the forums, well kind of. I've been hiding in the shadows for the past couple of weeks learning about eBook readers and everything else that goes along with them and seeing as I just bought my first eBook reader online - a Hanlin V3 from DADirect - I thought I'd pop in and say 'Hello'!

I'm a very big James Patterson fan, I've read most of his books and those I haven't are on my 'to-read' list, and also Jodi Picoult. My mum has gotten me quite interested in non-fiction /fiction books about culture, especially from the Middle East, so I've been reading a fair bit of that lately, too. Books such as a Thousand Splendid Sins & Not Without My Daughter spring to mind...

I'm also an animal lover and can't go past books about animals. I just finished reading a book called 'Tell Me Where It Hurts' which is day in the life of a vet which I couldn't put down.

I'll read just about anything, really...

Be warned, reading the forum can become addicting in it's own right

Thank you everyone!

xianfox - if you know of any other Animal books, please let me know. I've read a couple of other good ones, Marley & Me (I read it before hype...), Dog Year (I read this in one day at Sydney Airport waiting for my flight back to Melbourne), Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World and I'm sure there's other's that I can't remember.

ShortNCuddlyAM - I was already addicted to these forums BEFORE I registered

My tastes tend to run in a bit of different direction than what you've listed. One I finished not too long ago, The Blood Jaguar by Michael Payne was pretty good. For sale at http://www.fictionwise.com/ebooks/eBook9133.htm and other fine online ebook retailers.

Hi Jakodai, Picault's "My Sister's Keeper" is one of the most moving, thought-provoking books I've ever read. I couldn't stop reading it, but I'll never read it again.

I love "The Cat Who..." series by Lilian Braun, but I haven't found any of them as ebooks that Australians can buy.

I've read the James Heriot series (in paperback) many times. There's also the Warrior Cat series by Erin Hunter.

There's a sequel to "Not Without my Daughter", but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the original.

Take a look at Mobileread's own ebooks, as there's over 8,000 now. I uploaded my first ebook here on 01/01/09!

Hello Jakodai. Thanks for introducing yourself.

I, also, am a rabid reader. I've been reading my way through James Patterson's "Women's Murder Club" series and enjoying each book. I have The 6th Target in hand and have asked a friend to lend me 7th Heaven when she finishes with it. (Yes, these are paper books.)

Welcome to MobileRead. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Welcome

looking down and murmering "Hi, Jadokai" ... :-)

Hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do.
Hmmm, I just wondered - do Gerald Durrells books qualify as "animal books"? I absolutely love his humour! Unfortunately, I cannot find them even in print anymore. I was looking for a German copy for my daughter - no such luck. Though, this is OT in a book forum - I liked the newer TV movie (My Family and other Beasts), too. Didn't see the older BBC series.

Cheers,
Klaus

desertgrandma - I haven't read 'The Story of Edgar Sawtelle' but I'm going to start looking for it...

cbell - My Sister's Keeper was the first Jodi Picoult book that I read, and I LOVED it. It is such an amazing book.

Elsi - The Women's Murder Club series is great, have you read the Alex Cross series? It's similar to the Women's Murder Club, in that you follow the stories through the one character, however it's a different character and a different lifestyle. VERY good. That's what got me started on James Patterson.

xioanfox - I'm going to look this one up, too.

eimert - 'Animal' books to me are any books that have animals in them. The book doesn't have to be about them, they just have to be character's in it... I'm easily amused... I will look out for those ones too.

Thanks for the welcome everyone - and thanks for the suggestions!

Hi Jadokai,

please, do try Durrells books if you can find them! They were the only books (so far) making me laugh out loud in public - earned me some strange stares :-) I am really sorry that they are out of print. They even don't have them in our local library :-( I only to managed to snatch up two of them in German for my daughter in a second hand book shop.

Cheers,
Klaus

I just finished reading My Sister's Keeper earlier this evening. It certainly raises a lot of questions. The author does a good job of telling the story from a variety of vantage points. Overall, an excellent read.

Keep a tissue (or two) handy!
