				Linking Data Folder Doesnt Work

I thoughtmaybe in the new version this would be fixed. But if you attempt to link afile in book details comments using the form - the file button works but the second button to go directly to the data folder files does nothin

The new Data file button does something for me, it opens the data folder. However selecting a file doesn't create the file:// URL. BR Moderator Notice

			I tried the following steps:

	1) Select a book with some existing data files 2) Edit metadata 3) Click the insert link button in the comments editor 4) click Data file 5) A file selection dialog open to the data sub-folder displays 6) choose a file 7) click ok A link of the form <a href="data/filename"> is created, as expected. The only bug that I could see is clicking on this link doesnt work, because its a relative link, that will be fixed. |

Same steps - no file:// URL

See screen shots Minor difference, the Windows File select dialogue has an Open button, rather than an OK button. Observation: the Data files button is only available in MDE Comments. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-19-2023 at 03:14 AM. |

One more question. Would it be possible to have subfolders recognized in the data folder to better organize the files?

And, if you follow the link in my previous post you'll discover the Data files issue has been fixed… it'll be in the next release. BR |

What exactly is not fixed? That fix refers to the fact that clicking on links to data files in the book details panel did not open them, now it does.

Apart from an <a href="file:///blah blah entry in Comments or similar I don't know where links to book data folder files appear in Book details. Such links have always worked for me, irrespective of the file location. BR |

As I said in my original response the data file button does fill the URL field. For example if I choose a data file named text.xyz in the data folder I get

data/text.xyz in the URL field. The bug was that the actual link created by this didnt work, now it does. |

For me: after selecting a file in the Data File dialogue and clicking the Open button, the URL field in the parent dialogue remains empty. As shown in post #4's screen shots.

I must be using 7.1, because the Restore database issue is fixed. BR |
