Side loaded AWZ problem

Hi all. Don't know if this is a known issue but I was not able to phrase a search to get an answer. I recently converted two epub calibre generated magazines to AWZ and side loaded them to my Scribe. When I open one of them and drop down the top bar to exit the home link is gone. I could not exit the document except by restarting the device. The other drop down menu was populated but the one that includes the Home option font search etc... was just blank. Any thoughts or suggestions?

(AZW3 or KFX would be better for side loading, but do not know if that would make the issue go away)

This has happened even with Kindle Store books.

I would try opening Settings, close, and try again.

If you are not on the latest update, consider updating to it.

Amazon still supports MOBI and KF8 (azw3) on Scribes. They just don’t allow sticky notes for those formats.

I suspect that the book in question has some specific formatting that triggers a bug in the Kindle device. There have been many reports of the same behavior in Kindles with some books.

That happened in the last few days with a book I have. Not a scribe. But a kindle generation 10. After downloading a book from send to. Home button dissappearred. Had to restart for it to work again.

Kindle dictionaries are in AZW format.

The specifically says via Send to Kindle, their cloud service. Native on-device doesn't support EPUB, but does support MOBI and AZW and AZW3.

The document at issue was a magazine downloaded and generated by Calibre. I then side loaded it to the Scribe since Amazon won’t let me “send to Kindle” in awz3. The reason that I used awz was because it formats better than PDF which make the font too large.

The disappearing close button issue is not confined to azw. I've seen it happen with other formats.

I think that opening Settings and then closing should restore the button.

Note you can control the size of the default font for PDF output.

You did notice the millions of Kindle books in the image prior to the PDF, etc.?
