Imported PDF disappearing?

Hello ,m

have a Kobo Sage and noticed the following issue>

upon creating PDF with PDFWriter on MacOS and importing those,

they would show up initially show up on the home screen (under "my books" as screenshot/picture), but then disappear, nowhere to be found in the list under mybooks, but items have clearly been transfered onto the reader, and should be visible.

whats going on there?

anyone else noticing a similar issue?

thanks

Where on your Kobo are you transferring them to? Are you directly copying from from your Mac or are you going through a program such as calibre?

Where on your Kobo ereader? In the root of the exposed volume (what you will see mounted on your Mac) or in a subdirectory ( MyPDFs as an example). Do you still see the PDF files there when you reconnect your Kobo after the PDFs have disappeared?

alright, yes, on the root volume, yes , would still see them, but only on root directory, not on the kobo reader.

this has however, been solved, by doing a factory reset, now everything is fucntioning again, pdf are visible, and syncing/cloud is functioning aswell, also with pocket articles. very nice.

thank you youer much for the help dnsb.

So the solution I generally hate to suggest worked. Have you factory reset it is the Kobo equivalent of have you turned it off and on again.

what i noticed in the process, and is way more annoying, is that the WiFi, even if is "disabilitated", eg. turned off, is actually emitting dangerous level of RF;

thanks to the RF Meter i placed on the device, was able to catch the "bug".

this should not happen, and don§t know if this is by design or if it is just an error, an omittance in quality control.

No WiFi device has a dangerous level of RF.

Is your RF meter a laboratory instrument, calibrated and with a calibrated aerial.

well, about that i don§t know, it is a semi-professional device, id say, but fair enough, you can judge for yourself, hope this video is not too amateurish for you.

certainly WiFi emits dangerously levels of RF, no doubt about that. you can educate yourself about it.

Perhaps you should download Technical Guide for Interpretation and Compliance Assessment of Health Canada’s Radiofrequency Exposure Guidelines which is a Canadian government publication about their EMF guidlelines.

Out of curiosity, what levels did your meter show when sitting on a paper book? Our calibrated meter at work (came with a calibration certificate when used with it's calibrated antenna) certainly showed enough noise sitting on a counter at least 2 meters from the nearest RF source.

And ghod knows, I've spent more hours that I would care to remember talking to people whinging about being exposed to dangerous levels of radiation from access points while spending half the meeting with their cellphone glued to their ear. Idiots who neither know nor care about the difference between non-ionizing and ionizing radiation, who have never heard of the inverse-square law.

I have professional qualifications. I know not to peer into an active waveguide or close to a transmitting microwave dish of a satellite uplink. You'd eventually get a cataract or two.

A phone can use a similar band to Wifi (not the same bands unless in WiFi mode) and is about x5 the power (variable), but about x20 closer.
But the phone power effective on your face isn't multiplied by 20, but by 400 (inverse square law), so the effective power is 5 x 400 = 2000 times more than the wifi on a Kobo.
There is no cancer risk. The risk on these bands is a cataract if the power was a lot higher.
A microwave oven is about 800 times to 3000 times the power of a mobile phone, but is is pulsed about 20 times higher still as it uses a magnetron.

There are a lot of lies about phones, wifi and mobile/cell on the Internet.

One of the biggest lies is that 5G cell networks cause cancer.

have made several tests now, also at a large retailer, where they have lots of computers, electronics gadgets etc, and from all the kobo ereaders, the sage seem to be affected most;
certainly i am no professional, but this is strikenly obvious that something is wrong with the kobo sage; if the device is set to "Wii-Fi off" it should not emit dangerous levels of RF, period.

tested the same, with an older Sony PRS-900, and Kindle Keyboard 3th gen, and both are near "silent" when compared to the Kobo.

DNSB, if you have a professional tool, you can check it yourselves, your credentials seem to suggest you have one Sage at armslength if you so choose.

the problem lies with low levels of radiation that are being emitted 24/h; therefore, it is good to have some "control" atleast on the devices that one can handle in his vicinity.

the truth will come out about the dangers of manmade microwave radiation, but better soonerthan too late. it is worst plague we are facing, at least nothing else comes to my mind that is similar in magnitude and impact.

@QUOTH, there are lots of intelligent people that have researched these topics, but they are seldom heard in the public arena; some close to your area that come to my mind are the revered Mr. Neil Cherry, or contemporaries like Barrie Trower, Mark Steele, Olle Johannson. Its always good to be informed properly; there are also good politiican that have warned us, like norwegian Gro Brundtland.
Several countries have already stopped WiFi at schools, but there must be a real shift in consciousness , before things really get fast better.
