Job errors don't trigger error message pop-up
As stated in the title, for some reason job errors don't trigger the error pop-ups on my install. While testing with a fresh install on a Windows machine, this was not the case and I can see job error pop-up messages just fine.

Is there a setting that controls this that I have inadvertently turned off?

My environment:

calibre version: 6.23
os: macOS Big Sur 11.7.8

there isnt any setting for this, IIRC. are they appearing offscreen or under the main window?

I'm the idiot.

The error popup did come up, but was behind another modal dialog which was large enough to obscure the error msg.
And when I closed the topmost dialog, the error popup closed as well so I never saw it.

I had to drag the topmost dialog aside to see the error popup behind.
