Tag Browser

While I’ve been reorganizing my fanfic, a couple of times while clicking on a book, I’ve had that file’s individual tag browser pop up. I cannot find where there’s a keyboard shortcut set for this, and it seems to be something that coincides with clicking. I’ve never consciously set it.

How can I make it do this on purpose?

Tag Browser or Info pane? (contents very similar to Details)

If you go to Preferences>Shortcuts, you should be able to check all keyboard shortcuts, including Tag Browser.

If prior responses don't help see ==>> Preferences->Tweaks->Control behavior of the book list

Otherwise post a screenshot of what you call a "file’s individual tag browser pop up"

No dice. I’ll post a screenshot when/if I manage to make it happen again. It’s essentially the browser you get if you edit metadata individually and click the button, but it doesn’t bring up the edit metadata page, just the tags for that story.

Then, I suspect it's the popup one gets when Shift+F2 is pressed on the Tags cell in the book list - this one:



I have no idea how to make it pop with mouse clicks, might need a bit of reverse swing :lol:

There is a small 'list' icon to the left of "Tags" in the MDE

Ha! Got the screenshot! I definitely pressed something, but again, can’t repeat.

Okay, it seemed to be shift+click (Mods, please apologize my spamming, this is so weird) but I can’t do it reliably.

I have a MacBook, 12-inch, early 2016, running Monterey, calibre 6.22

It’s shift+click.

Must be a Mac only feature, what happens of you shift+left click on the Author cell.

I say it’s shift+click. it works about 75% of the time, so clearly I’m also dragging it in a certain way

shift+click cant be causing this, that simply allows searching for multiple items by clicking on them, on macs as well. If I had ot guess you are trigerring the context menu somehow and click the Manage item entry in it.

The only way I was able to bring up that dialog in the screenshot was by *clicking* the 'list' icon to the left of "Tags" in the MDE, as theducks mentioned. This, on Windows.

Does that imply Shift+F2 on a Tag cell in the book list does not pop the 'Manage items: Tags' dialogue? If so, you must have assigned Shift+F2 to something else in Prefs->Shortcuts.

There is no entry for 'Manage items: Tags' in the book list default context menu, and as far as I can see there is no way of adding it. You may be thinking of 'Manage categories', which can be added, but it's a flyout menu to a different set of dialogues.

Suggestion - change "Manage items: <Tags etc>" items to "Select values: <Tags etc>"

Can a mouse/touchpad gesture trigger a keyboard event on a Mac - I know it can be done on a Surface Pro.

Ah, that shortcut does indeed pop up this dialog, thanks. Though it's new to me, really. I had searched the Shortcuts section, but couldn't find it.

I use mostly just the tags field in MDE and, when in book list mode, long left-click followed by release.
