Highlights made in Word/LibreOfficeWriter on doc/docx/odt
I made some highlighting (text background?) of keywords in LibreOffice Writer using regex and then sent the docx file to my cloud but when I open it the highlights aren't visible in Koreader? I thought they were embedded on the files themselves. Anyone have a guess? Much appreciated.

I'm honestly surprised you were even able to open the file at all without severe issues.
Much like mobi/prc, support for office formats is extremely basic and extremely unmaintained .

The DOCX/ODT support isn't extremely unmaintained, only extremely basic. :P Much of what's unsupported is actually advantageous since better layout and positioning would be worse if you're trying to read the file, but most things beyond some basic headings and text aren't supported.

It is safe to assume that it is unmaintained. There were almost no changes since initial implementation
But at the same time no open issues, i.e. no demand for changes. The real question, if the issue will be created, will someone work on it? If yes, then it is maintained. About level of support, it has everything I need What do you miss?

My point was that it's DOC support that's extremely unmaintained, not DOCX/ODT. Whatever you assume you do at your own peril.
