Instructions for patching firmware 4.37.21533

This patch thread is for firmware 4.37.21533 (9a4b518d5e9770dd8f03fecc96c24a09e81dbe38):

Instructions for patching on Windows, Linux, or macOS with kobopatch:
  1. Download the Kobo firmware release
You can find the download links here here.
  2. Download and extract the patch zip
Download and unzip kobopatch_4.37.21533.zip from here.
  3. Copy the firmware file to the src folder
Copy the original firmware you just downloaded into the kobopatch src folder.
  4. Install the firmware if needed
Install the firmware on your kobo BEFORE proceeding with the next steps. You can do this by extracting the contents of the firmware zip into the .kobo folder and ejecting.
  5. Choose your patches from the files in the src folder
Enable patches in the files in the src folder (or use the overrides in kobopatch.yaml to keep your options separate).
  6. Run kobopatch
Double-click kobopatch.bat on Windows, or run ./kobopatch.sh on Linux or macOS. On macOS, you can drag it into the terminal and press enter (you may need to go to System Preferences - Security and Privacy - General to confirm that you actually want to run it).
  7. Install the patches by copying KoboRoot.tgz into the .kobo folder of your device
If the patching succeeded, a file named KoboRoot.tgz will be created in the out folder. Copy it to the .kobo folder of your device. Safely remove your device once you are finished. On Linux, you may have to press Ctrl+H to show the .kobo folder.

They adjust various settings in the firmware. If you unzip the file, you can read what each patch does.

After running kobopatch.bat on my Libra 2, I can't see any KoboRoot.tgz. I'm doing it on Win10 and I tried also the option "run as admin". Could you help please?

Did you turn on any of the patches? They come all set to no and you have to change the ones you want to yes.

If there were any errors in any of your .yaml files then a KoboRoot.tgz wouldn't be created. Were there any errors when you ran kobopatch.bat?

Thanks for answer. Any error, just the running window start, then automatically closed.

If your Windows CMD window closed very quickly, it sounds like there *was* an error. Open your copy of kobopatch.bat with a good text editor and add a new line at the end containing the following:
Code:
PAUSE
Then run kobopatch.bat again. The CMD window will no longer automatically close and you should be able to see any error messages.

Alternatively, kobopatch also produces a log called log.txt. It should show any error messages at the end of the file.

I think I understood the issue. I didn't follow the point 3 "Copy the firmware file to the src folder. Copy the original firmware you just downloaded into the kobopatch src folder".

I understood I should just install in my Kobo then remove. Now it works, sorry for wasting time and thank you for help

Ah, yes, resorting to that old-fashioned troubleshooting technique - "when all else fails, follow the instructions."

Glad you got it working.
