Broken Image Links

Many times after sending a file to Kindle (either USB or Send-to-Kindle), I will load the book on the device to see the camera icon representing a broken link. This can occur in place of bullet points, page breaks, or even larger images.

I know the Quality Check plugin can assist with locating and marking books with broken links, but is there any automated way to remove them in bulk? Thank you in advance.

Remove them or fix them?

It's probably a bad idea to indiscriminately remove a whole heap of image links. It is better to locate the error in the code links and fix them.

Post the code for one of the broken links.

I suspect this was a (poorly done) scan + OCR and the images were not embedded properly.
(the code will probable be file:\\.... )

One examples is below. Not sure if you are looking for this, but the image referenced here is not in the file (that I know of). Not sure how to check. When opening every file individually and choosing automatically fix errors, that is usually successful, but I have no way to do that in bulk.

The image link seems to be pointing to a local image.

To check what images are in the epub file, look under "Images" in the left panel. See image below.
Are the images there?

Other than appearing to originally have been an Adobe ADEPT DRM protected book? It could easily be a book purchased from a vendor or a library book which the OP wants to read on his Kindle.

The first I have no issues with. The second is a bit iffy since I don't approve of removing DRM from loans but then I don't have the issue of books available only in epub format not working on my ereader of choice.

As for the images not working? If they work when looking at the book with calibre's viewer or other epub renderer, I suspect that Amazon is not happy with the structure of the links or even just images/ instead of Images/ being used.

That's why I think it's dodgy.
Rather odd since the version I tried from the local library with ISBN 9781408803745 did seem to be the same.

Well, well, well... This seems to be rather interesting. I responded to a post by JSWolf in response to my post in message #7 and his post disappeared leaving only the copy that I had quoted. Perhaps I missed some greenie action behind the scenes?

Jon deleted the content. I removed the empty post as normal.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have grabbed a coffee while thinking about my reply.

Nah! I did screw up once and did 2 posts (mods tic then apply actions to the ticked) instead of the 1, so a polite question is a great wakeup.

Have a look at this and you'll see with the same ISBN, it's not the same. I'll keep if for now in case you want to see a different part (or not).

Now that is truly interesting. Your sample is also missing the link to the page-template.xpgt file but it does have the page identification IDs (at least, one of them). Things that make you go hmmm....

Edit: What did your copy show as the dc:date in the .opf file?
