PW5 Remove ads on Paperwhite 5 SE?

Hey there!

Please forgive me if this is completely the wrong place to ask.

I recently purchased a Paperwhite 5 signature edition, not knowing it had ads on the cover screen (thanks eBay, very cool!)

I read the "Open Sesame" jailbreak post and saw that my firmware version that it came with (5.15.1.1) cannot be jailbroken. Bummer, but what can I do about it?

Anyway, is there any way to remove the cover screen ads *without* jailbreak? Or do I just have to wait for the new jailbreak?

I was recently given a Paperwhite (3) and when I signed in, I didn't get the lock screen ads. I don't understand how that gets decided. I've never owned a Kindle in the past and I thought it was account based.

No; it's device-based. The original purchaser paid not to have ads and it carries forward even if the device is registered to another account.

Huh. I thought the SE wouldn't come with ads by default..? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The only way I could think that this happened is the previous owner went into the Amazon device management page and chose to enable offers.

On that note, I have a Kindle Paperwhite 2 which is supposedly an ad-supported device, but after I had reset it (to clear out previous owner's data) the ads just never showed. I still don't know how or why. Going to the Amazon device management page does show it is offer-enabled.

Hold on. Are you absolutely sure that is PW5 Signature Edition? Because PW5 SE doesn't suppose to have ads.

The storage capacity is 32 GB, isn't? Does it support wireless charging (Qi)?

If both checked, then you may need to contact Amazon CS.

If not, please contact your seller. He might confused between PW5 and PW5 Signature Edition (The later is more expensive).

Huh. Good to know. That's weird, since it's software based. But I'll take it.

I thought that there was an option to display the book cover as lockscreen...
Go to settings to check if yours supports that.

There are no ads imposed upon the customer for the Kindle Signature Edition (32 gig) model, as quoted from their ad:
