This is pointless as it will never overcharge and won't do the PC or laptop any harm. It will not take current once it's charged.
Also it won't work. |

But they also say that with on every usb cable plug, this causes battery to degrade even if charge is some seconds. Is like you fully charged it from the point even small amount of current got in battery.

Absolute nonsense, lithium is the most forgiving of the battery chemistries for partial charges and discharges.

Did a small research and seems you're right.I remember before 5 years, a friend of mine told me that her father (electrician) told her that from the point the charger is pluged in,automarically this counts as fully charge.I hope he was wrong so this thought finally gets out of my head!

As others have mentioned, your battery doesn't need to be protected. But there are some situations where a USB connection that blocks the 5v pin can be handy (like not wanting my OctoPi to try and power my 3D printer's display module). Taping or pulling the 5v+ pin out of a USB cable connector is not impossible by any means, but I took the easy way out and got a couple of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094FYL9QT/ Pretty specialist, though. Note that blocking the 5v power could prevent the transfer of data in some scenarios. Especially with some smart phones and tablets. Last edited by DiapDealer; 03-02-2023 at 06:46 AM. |

Yep. Very niche, as I said. I commented only to answer the question of a commercial data-only USB connection solution. Mainly because I very recently ran into said niche need.

There is a big difference between an electrician and an electrical engineer. I don't have the knowledge an electrician has, and an electrician doesn't have the knowledge I have. We are trained totally differently. Don't ask an electrical engineer to wire your house mains power (it will probably burn down). And don't ask an electrician how the charging circuitry in your sophisticated electronic device works (you'll probably end up cutting the red wire and ending up with a useless cable). That's arguably better than burning your house down however.
