How to tell if ebook-viewer has stalled while loading a large book

I'm trying to open a 40mb MOBI file of a dictionary that got imported when I imported the entire "My Kindle Content" folder to a backup library.

Opened it in ebook-viewer and it's been loading for quite a while now.

Watching the activity in the cache folder doesn't show any file activity (files created, modified, or accessed) for several minutes. Is this an indication that loading has somehow stalled?

Kindle dictionaries are large and complex and loaded with proprietary Amazon markup that allows word lookup on Kindles to function.

The dictionary will need to be completely converted before the calibre viewer will open it. That could take hours or days to complete.

Kindleunpack is a much better tool for dealing with Kindle dictionaries.
