Talking Oh - I got a Kindle!

I read about MobileRead on the Amazon posts and it had such rave reviews that I had to come check it out myself. I think I will have a hard time controlling myself from downloading everything. I live out in western Kansas, USA and I look forward to the time i will spend here during our very cold winter.

Welcome to MobileRead. Yes, there are some terrific books here -- and there are some even more terrific people here to chat with.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. My husband ordered it back in November and it was under the tree Christmas morning. Apparently he slipped right in and there was no delay or back order. I feel really lucky as I have seen on the discussions many are still waiting.

Hi uncharmed and welcome! I hope you enjoy your Kindle as much as I enjoy mine!

One of the things I like best is the ability to Wikipedia via Whispernet--and Amazon pays!

I was recently reading a book that had a reference to the Cheviot Hills. Didn't know about the Cheviot Hills, so I turned on my antenna, and within a couple of minutes I was reading about the geography along the England/Scotland border. Then I followed a link about a long-distance hiking trail called the Pennine Way. Then... well, you get the idea.

Eventually I DID get back to my book.

By the way, the book was by J.S. Fletcher--a very enjoyable author if you like detective stories and/or early 20th century English period pieces.
