Calibre Books All Disappeared on my Kindle

Have been using Calibre to manage my Kindle for years. I just added a new book from my Calibre Library to My Kindle, disconnected my Kindle. It showed all my books including the new one but then the screen blinked and refreshed with only the new book. No sign of any of the old ones. Have restarted kindle to no effect.. Any ideas how I can retrieve my books. I do not keep them in my Calibre library.

Connect your Kindle to your computer and look at it in the file explorer. Are the files there?

If not and you did not keep any back-ups, then there's nothing to be done. But they may still be on the Kindle, so have a look via the computer.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Tried searching via computer - no sign of files. Will have to start borrowing them again

If these were KU loans, you will not be able to download them in a form usable by calibre unless you are using a Paperwhite 1 or earlier eInk Kindle.
