Calibre has no .cbr or .cbz output
Hello everyone,
it's my first message on this forum. I'm using Calibre on my Win10 laptop to manage my off-line ebooks and eComics (majority of my collection) & convert them, if needed. Until last week, I read my collection on a Kindle, but now I have PocketBook Color so I can finally enjoy my comics in colour. I saw that it supports .cbr & .cbz, and I know that Calibre can identify - and even properly display - eComics in said formats. My problem is - there is no output option for .cbr & .cbz in Calibre. Neither native nor in form of a plug-in. ![]() As I can't program, I hope to find help here. In the meantime, I'll be stuck with PDFs or the kinda tedious process of "unzip - push JPGs single-file into LibreOffice - convert LibreOffice file into PDF - pull PDF into running session of Calibre (it auto-copies the file, I discovered a few years back) - add metadata - send to device" . https://www2.mobileread.com/i/smiliesadd1/y_whew.gif If you know a solution, please reply. ![]() ![]() Greetings from Germany, Geneon |

???
Calibre can use a (3rd party) Comic viewer installed on your system. Preferences: Behavior:use Internal Viewer (right side) allow you to choose by format to use Caliber viewer (TICK) or use the OS (no tick) |

Moderator Notice Moved to Library Management, where other comic readers who use calibre will see it I have Honeyview configured as my default .cbz/.cbr reader in Windows, and those formats are not checked in in the Use internal viewer for: list. So, when I View those formats from calibre it passes the format file to Honeyview. BR |

Is the OP asking for a plugin that can convert/export a collection of images or a image based PDF as a cbr/cbz file?
My personal choice for the few times I've used cbr/cbz was to unzip/zip and rename but then this was only a few times. |

If you want to convert a collection of images to cbz simply zip them up and rename the zip file to have a .cbz extension. cbz is just a zip file with image files inside.

I found this here, about cbz format, not sure about cbr in calibre
[Conversion Output] CBZ Output
The CBZ output plugin is a valuable tool for comic book enthusiasts. It can convert ebooks to the CBZ format, which includes all images from the original format, allowing you to view the comic book comic viewers like Calibre-Web. not sure about cbr files if its possible to output them too, but if you have them in cbz, I think I seen apps that can convert cbz into cbr maybe on the web before. Github: https://github.com/huyumars/calibre-cbz-convertor https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=352045 https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...5&d=1675733989 There is a cbz.zip file on that other page, which claims to work for cbz files It has not been added to the calibre plugins that can be within the app. It appears be compatible with calibre 7.26, the current build of the software on windows 11, now I am not sure about linux and I have not tried any cbz viewers or cbr viewers from microsoft store yet to see if the outputs are correctly converted, so I cannot say if it converts from azw3 to cbz correctly or not, or kfx to cbz again not sure about the output or format if the plugin works or not who knows, it seems its not been updated in some time.
