Calibre to Apple Books
I like Apple Books for reading epubs with the iCloud syncing across Apple devices. I know it's not to everyone's taste but I don't want to have to pay for FBReader or use Google Drive.
However, every time Apple updates iOS and/or MacOS actually achieving copying from Calibre seems to change. Back in the days of Sierra and iBooks it was a simple drag and drop operation. Then the technique became drag and drop to the Mac desktop with another drag and drop from there to Apple Books. Now, with Mac Ventura and iOS16 it's changed again. Yesterday I wanted to place several ePubs into Apple Books. Some transferred by direct drag and drop: others wouldn't transfer at all. I've no idea why some were 'acceptable' and others not. I ended up having to access the Calibre folders where the books were stored and use the Apple Books Import function to copy them over. For future operations I'm going to make a folder away from the Calibre installation entitled 'Calibre Transfers' , use Calibre to copy the ePub files only into it then use the Apple Books import option to get them in. I'm assuming it will be possible to select multiple items to make a single operation. I don't want to be beaten by Apple's foibles! |

You can select multiple books in calibre and save them to a folder with a single operation. I dont touch apple books so I have no idea how or even if, it works, but another possibility is you can use the calibre Open with function to open books directly with iBooks, after which hopefully apple provides some way to import the book from within ibooks.

After trying all kinds of combinations. I've found that a double click on the epub filename in any OS Directory does the trick by placing it into the Books App where it then stays..
