Convert ePub to KFX (and retain page numbers)?

Hi. I’ve been converting KFX to ePub in Calibre lately, and everything goes really well. Even the page numbers are kept when going from KFX to ePub, which is great because I import those ePubs to iBooks and the real page numbers still match perfectly with the physical books.

One thing I can’t figure out though is how to convert ePub to KFX and retain page numbers. I have a bunch of books in ePub format that I imported to calibre from Adobe Digital Editions, and the page numbers in those also match the physical books. But when I convert those ePubs to KFX with Calibre, the official page numbers don’t seem to be carried over to the KFX (whereas if I go from KFX to ePub with other books, the page numbers are always retained).

Is there any way to have official page numbers retain when going from ePub to KFX, just like they are retained when going from official KFX files to ePub? Thanks!

calibre doesnt convert to kfx (the third party calibre plugin that does so uses kindlegen to do it). I am guessing this is a limitation of kindlegen, but you should post in that plugins thread to confirm.

The KFX Output plugin should convert page numbers from an EPUB source. However many EPUBs do not contain real page numbers. Adobe Digital Editions will make up page numbers if none are present in the EPUB being displayed. Perhaps that is happening in your case.

If you feel that an EPUB has page numbers that are not being converted you can post it here for me to look at. (Make sure that you do not post copyrighted text on MobileRead. There is a ScrambleEbook plugin that can be used to remove text from a book leaving behind the formatting and page numbers.)
