Content and devices, where are you?

Why does the content and devices menu choice randomly move up and down the list? Sometimes it is about 3rd in line and sometimes it is about 10th in line. It seems to randomly jump back and forth with no indication of when or why it is going to move.

I doubt if anyone here knows why Amazon does what they do.

You can bookmark the page instead of searching their menus, or just type "amazon.com/mycd" into your browser's address bar.

I find so many preferred pages like this hard to find that I just save them as links anymore on my spreadsheet. The same for the arduous process to find my currently kindle unlimited borrows or the matchmaker page

I've been watching the 4 days since posting and it seems to wander between spots 3, 8 and 9 in the list. I'm going to start watching if it varies based on browser used as well. Curiouser and curiouser as someone said somewhere, sometime.

I just keep a browser tab open to the C&D page, in one of my tab groups (Safari). It's always there on any of my Apple devices. I find this more convenient than using Bookmarks, because anything new tabs I open while in a tab group is automatically added to the tab group, whereas bookmarks have to be explicitly added to a specific bookmark folder.

I don't use other browsers so not sure others have this feature.

And come on, it isn't that hard to get a list of your current KU borrows.

I use 4 browsers and have 5-6 tabs always open in each. One is car stuff. One is word games I enjoy. The others are forums etc. I follow. And each has 1 or 2 of the half dozen emails I've accumulated through the decades.

I don't keep an Amazon tab open all the time, just whenever I want something. I don't do KU. I have no trouble scanning down the Your Account column to find it, I just find it interesting that it randomly migrates. At this moment it is #8 in Firefox and Chrome and #9 in Edge. I've never tried it in Brave but just did and it's #8 there also.

Maybe it's like b&m stores that move stuff around from time to time to force you to go up and down all the aisles so that maybe you will buy something you aren't particularly there for.

Is this only happening in the US store? My content and devices menu hasn't changed its placement in years.

It's been happening to me in the US for some time, but I don't go there often and thought that I was misremembering where it was.

(Oh, and amazon is always tinkering with things for a subset of people as a test, so not everyone has the same experience on the same page.)

I would consider it unsurprising if the order changes from browser to browser. They are using different rendering engines. Many are Chromium based, but even those will differ as they can make modifications to the main branch. Firefox uses Gecko, Safari is Webkit. Everything on iOS is supposed to use WebKit, I think. And they all claim to be 'fastest'.

Of course, ultimately it's on Amazon to make the experience consistent across browsers, should they choose to do so.

In the rare cases where Safari fails to function with some web site, I keep Firefox around for a second opinion. I doubt many people jump between browsers as much as you do.
