Koreader / Kindle renders so different
hi there,
i am very new to Kindles and especially to Koreader on Kindle. I installed koreader because i realy like the simplicity and freedom to handle ebooks. BUT: for now i am really annoyed by how koreader renders my ebooks. the original kindle software seems to render books much much better (looking) then koreader. attached an example. Is for now i have my books in calibre and then convert them to *.mobi and send them to the kindle. The attached screenshots come from exactly the same file on the device. is there any way to have koreader render books like the kindle? Is this a settings thing? or conversion? Is there a prefered filetype / setting? thank you so much, cheers pcace Last edited by pcace; 10-09-2022 at 04:40 AM. |

By "render" you mean the font quality or the layout?
The fonts are tweaked in the bottom meanu (kerning, hinting, etc). The layout is dictated by css Style Tweaks (Top menu). |

Also, if you convert books to .epub, try the bottom menu's far right tab and enable "Embedded Style" - this will enable css set by the publisher

attached is the "embedded style" version (compare with the one from first post..). the epub is directly from the publisher, not converted by me. Is that normal? or do i still miss some setting to achieve the same results? Thanks again for help!! |

Try changing the style to HTML5 first:
Top Menu -> 2nd tab -> Style -> HTML5, see if it helps. Details here: https://github.com/koreader/koreader...ent-1272568806 |

Keep in mind that CRe's support of MOBI is *extremely* basic. My usual recommendation is to stay the hell away from those and throw proper ePubs at it instead

You can tune it once on a book by setting the line height and then long pressing the line height setting block and choosing “Set as default” on the popup. This will set the default line height on any new book you open afterwards. But it won’t change the line height for books you’ve already opened before; you have to change their line heights by hand, or go to the document menu at the top and do “Reset document settings to default” for those.
