How to Downgrade from 4.34.20097
Hi there,
Can anyone guide me on how to downgrade from 4.34.20097? I finally got Windows 10 on my PC from Windows 7 and was excited to get my Libra 2 how I wanted it to be but Calibre doesn’t yet work with this new version. I’ve never done this before so guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

Oh really! Hmm…I have version 6.5. I wonder why mine wasn’t working. I downgraded to the version from January & only then was it able to read the database.

I also run the latest Calibre, I also have the "support latest firmware" option in the plugins (mentioned in another thread) enabled

After installing 4.34.22297, I had to select the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option in the device configuration before I could send any books to my Kobo (Libra H2O).

I'd stick with 4.34.20097 and simply tick the box in Calibre to "work with newer firmware". That's OK on Elipsa & Sage. 4.34 is better than 4.32.x and the 4.33.* versions seem buggy so I went back to 4.32.x on mine, a Libra original and also grandchildren's Nia and original H2O from 4.33.*, but 4.34.20097 seems best yet, though I've only upgraded the Sage & Elipsa.

Read the thread on new Kobo firmware. You will find out there if it works with the current Calibre or you have to wait for Calibre to be updated.

I thought I copy/pasted from an earlier post.
It should be 4.34.20097 |

My Kobo Libra 2 using FW 4.34.20097 runs fine with calibre 6.5 on a MacBookPro M1 macOS 12.6.
I use the KoboTouchExtended (3.6.3) plug-in with "Attempt to support newer firmware" activated with any other Kobo-related plug-in disabled. Cheers |

Thank you all for your collective assistance! Yesterday was a really long day of updates. It took a looooong time to do the Windows 10 update. I’d updated Calibre but missed updating the Kobotouchextended plugin. Which probably explains why it didn’t read the database on the Libra 2 even though I selected attempt to support newer firmware.
I downgraded the OS on the Libra 2 to the version from January 2022 connected the reader to be able to organize my books then downloaded to the current version. After updating the kobotouchextended and with the latest Kobo software Calibre did read the database on the reader. Yay!! Thank you one & all! |
