Restore Deleted Books in Calibre - Windows 11

Hi All
I accidentally deleted 1000+ books in calibre thanks to a toy poodle walking across my keyboard (husband swatting flies and dog panicked).

I found them in the recycle bin and restored them but...... they are not in calibre and I cannot find the files anywhere to "add" back in again.

Search in windows explorer cannot find the files and restore in library maintenance doesn't help either.

I think re-adding them is the likely solution but need to find where the have gone..... calibre library delete????

Hi, sueinspain!

You might try the Check Library option (Library Maintenance => Check Library). The problem is that you used the OS to put books into the calibre library but calibre's library database thinks they are still deleted. After the first pass, it should ask if you want to check if the files in the library match the information in the database. This should find the files and allow you to restore them.

I did that once courtesy of a much younger relative. My workaround was to move the files from the Recycle Bin to a temporary directory and then add the books from that directory back to calibre.
