hacks now supported by firmware

I saw a reference in another thread that appears to indicate that cover mode for screen saver is now supported in firmware. Which firmware release adds this feature?

This leads me to the more general question, which other hacks have also been incorporated into firmware and in which release?

I am asking this as I am preparing to use the latest JB on a recently purchased KT4W8 to be gifted. I want to JB on the basis that it might not be possible to do so in the future to leave adding additional features later. There are some features that I want to install now, but I don't want to install one that may no longer be necessary due to firmware enhancements.

IIRC, that (official, built-in) feature was added somewhere around 5.13.4 - 5.13.6.
But it needed (and still needs to be on 5.14.x) to be enabled remotely by Amazon.

Can it be enabled locally on 13.6 firmware? There seems to be some information on this in another thread on this, so I was wondering. Ideally a KUAL extension to toggle it would be nice.
