Oasis 3 and my eyes lately
This will sound a bit odd but my eyes have been blurring easier lately when reading, especially at night. Figured it was time to get glasses (which probably is), but the screen is softer.
However, I ended up getting some used books in from thriftbooks recently and started reading some paperbacks again as they were the cheapest way to find these series books. Using my booklight. The pages are not blurry at all and my eyes are not tiring, so now I am noticing it seems to be something with my Oasis screen. Another odd thing is the warm light I don't believe is working right. I can turn it all the way up and it used to be warm orange/yellow but now it is not. Still at decently high settings it is mainly white. I am starting to wonder if there is a strange malfunctioning with the screen and it's causing some of my eye tiredness that I am not aware of? Anyone else ever experience anything like this? Problem has been like 2 months, I've read on it often for two years. After putting the Oasis down my eyes are staying slightly soft if look at another screen or even the TV, but then starts clearing up after a few minutes. It's not something that is happening after reading awhile, it's as soon as I start reading on it. It's just "softer" somehow all over, can't explain it. Enlarging font doesn't help. I haven't changed the font either for months, so it's not that. Last edited by Paperbackstash; 08-03-2022 at 08:10 PM. |

Going to try to clean it real well. Maybe it has smudges I can't really see that are changing the screen. Doesn't explain the warm light though

Have you tried not using the front lighting on the Kindle? Just curious.

Read all day and get eye check appointment at closing time. My eyes are much better at 8 am than 11pm. Rule out cataracts, macular degeneration and simply needing reading glasses (or upgrades).
Try using a decent external lamp angled so bulb doesn't reflex/ |

I did try with some reading glasses last night and that did help a bit after my eyes got used to them. I have to turn the warm light up as otherwise it is bright, bright white now, so not sure what's going on with that feature.

Turn the lighting down to a point where you can read the screen but it doesn't look at all bright.
I suspect you need to have your eyes tested. Eye tests also include tests for glaucoma. Discuss this issue with your optician who may recommend other tests or glasses for use with your ereader (polaroid sunglasses with lenses for reading, for example). |

Try outdoors during the day with front light off.
The built lighting can't actually make the screen blurry. |

The only reading today I've done besides computer work was some paperback at starbucks, I'll try to read this weekend during the day on the porch with the oasis and the backlight off and see what that feels like |

And try a different font and also adjust the weight of the font so it looks OK to you. If the font is too light, that can impact your reading.

True also. I used bold size 2 for years but with eye changes, or else whatever is going on with the screen changes, it is not as black as it used to be. I will mess with the screen settings more.

Another option is to take your Oasis to a shop that has one on demo and see how the screen compares.
